Patient Spotlight: Shadeh Tabatabai Makeen
Share
When we go outside, early morning, anywhere along the strand, we will likely see
Shadeh running. We will see her running with her son Ramsey, the emperor in his
chariot. We will see her running with the crew or we will see her running with Renee. If we go to the Bay Club, we will see her crushing the elliptical. We will see her, if we are strong enough, in any one of her super popular, fun and kickass Yoga classes at
CorePower or Yoga Six. We will see her playing volleyball on the beach on weekends
with her husband Tamer or we will see her mentoring the Mira Costa cross country
team. We will see her dropping off Ramsey (on foot – no car needed here) at school
with a delicious and nutritious home prepared lunch and a daily note and drawing from mom. Suffice to say Shadeh is the epitome of fitness both professionally with her yoga practice and recreationally with her family and seemingly endless number of friends. Shadeh is a true example and inspiration of the joys and benefits of living a life dedicated to health and fitness.
I have had the pleasure of treating Shadeh since she was 15 years old running for
Renee at Mira Costa High School and in doing so, I have had the enjoyment of
watching her growth into the community fitness leader that she is. Because of this
bodywork has been essential for Shadeh. And for me our consistent work over the
years has contributed to my growth as a practitioner. The consistent feedback and the few times Shadeh and I have both learned from my mistakes (in hindsight – I should not have had her continue to run on that tender Achilles). I have written in my mission statement that we partner in every treatment encounter. This has been an enjoyable and valuable partnership.
And as I finish this paragraph, sitting at the Green Store in Hermosa Beach, enjoying
one of Lana’s epic breakfast sandwiches, who comes running by on this crisp and
sunny morning but Shadeh and Renee.
Beautiful coincidence.
